Job description
A well-established, collegial Pulmonary Critical Care group is seeking a Board Certified or Board Eligible Physician to join four other physicians due to a planned retirement. This is a full-scope role offering inpatient, outpatient, and ICU responsibilities, as well as procedures and shared call.
Position Highlights:

Comprehensive Practice: Inpatient, outpatient, ICU, and procedural care

Call Schedule: 1:4 (every 4th night and weekend)

Facility Size: 500 beds | 20-bed ICU | Level III Trauma

Team Support: Includes nurse practitioners and physician assistants

Teaching/Supervision: Involvement in supervising advanced practice providers
-
EMR: Cerner
-
Credentialing Timeframe: Estimated 60–90 days
Clinical Scope & Required Procedures:
-
Ventilation management: ETT/NT/Tracheostomy, BiPAP/CPAP
-
Line and catheter insertions: Central, arterial, PA catheter, IABP
-
Emergency interventions: Sengstaken/Blakemore Tube
-
Diagnostic procedures: Thoracentesis, Paracentesis
-
Pulmonary diagnostics: Bronchoscopy (with BAL), EBUS, PFTs, CPET, Bronchoprovocation Testing
-
Additional procedures: Chest tube insertion, Pulmonary Rehabilitation
-
Disease management: Asthma, COPD, ILD, Pulmonary Fibrosis, Pneumonia, Sarcoidosis, Pulmonary Nodules, Pulmonary Vascular Disease, Bronchiolitis
Patient Volumes:
-
ICU Patients: Up to 20/day (with NP support)

Inpatient (non-ICU): Up to 10/day

Admissions: ~5/day
Requirements:
-
Board Certified or Eligible in Pulmonary Disease and Critical Care Medicine (within 5 years; must plan to test)

Fellowship-trained in Pulmonary/Critical Care (must be completed prior to start; new grads welcome)

ACLS Certification required

Iowa Medical License or eligibility to obtain

Experience required with listed procedures and disease states

Clean malpractice history strongly preferred

Cannot accept candidates requiring visa sponsorship or locum tenens
