Carilion Clinic's expanding Pulmonary and Critical Care Section is seeking 4 additional Pulmonary and Critical Care physicians for its Roanoke practice and 1 for its New River Valley practice. While most of the time will be spent on clinical duties, you will be working with residents and fellows during most of the time and therefore deeply involved inn their training. A varied array of pathology provides an excellent set-up for teaching and for professional growth. We are part of an ACGME accredited Pulmonary and Critical Care fellowship which has 12 fellows, and we are starting a Critical Care fellowship in July, 2022, which will have 4 fellows. Academic conferences are held every week and all attendings are encouraged to participate. These provide for CME-MOC points and ensure all faculty stays up to date. We have also created a rotation schedule that allows our attendings ample opportunity to provide teaching at the bedside and with didactic lectures. further our partnership with the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine allows us to perform research and further academic growth, with all of our faculty holding appointments at the medical school and participating in diverse related committees.
Carilion Clinic's hospital in Roanoke is the second largest hospital in the state and a level 1 trauma center with over 800 beds. With access to modern technology our subspecialty critical care units provide advance care to the sickest patients even with the ability to rescue therapies such as ECMO. A large Pulmonary Consult service makes for a dynamic rounding experience as it routinely encounters interesting diagnostic dilemmas with a varied array of pathology.
Carilion New River Valley Hospital in Christiansburg is a satellite State-of-the-Art modern facility located about 45 minutes from Roanoke. I also offers a wide array of services, including a full pulmonary function test laboratory, advanced diagnostic bronchoscopy and a modern 12 bed Critical Care Unit with availability of bedside ultrasonography.
Our Section also runs AASM accredited Sleep Centers throughout the region performing over 4000 studies per year.
Our Section is formed by a diverse and multicultural group which we have come to call our extended family. The group is very collegial and well-integrated and not only functions well at work but has multiple out of work social interactions. This dynamic has allowed us for continued growth and excellent physician retention.
Southwest Virginia provides and excellent environment for a peaceful and fulfilling live experience. Roanoke is the larger city in the region and has diverse activities and very good schools. The New River Valley is home to Virginia Tech University and with this provides multiple cultural venues and many sports related activities.
