Job description
A New Jersey State Psychiatric Hospital is seeking four Psychiatrists for full-time locum opportunities with the potential to transition into long-term or permanent positions.
Whether you're an experienced inpatient Psychiatrist or a recent graduate with strong inpatient training, this is an excellent opportunity to work in a collaborative environment serving a complex adult patient population while enjoying a predictable Monday-Friday schedule with no call, no weekends, and no overtime.
Compensation & Benefits

- 6-month assignment with potential for permanent placement
- Approximately 30-day credentialing process
- Multiple units available based on experience and interest
Job Responsibilities
Conduct psychiatric evaluations and treatment planning
Manage psychotropic medication regimens
Participate in civil commitment processes
Treat severely mentally ill, forensic, and complex psychiatric patients
Coordinate care with nursing, security, social work, and clinical staff
Maintain timely and accurate documentation
Function independently within assigned units
Qualifications
Psychiatry training required
Inpatient Psychiatry experience required
New Jersey medical license required at interview (unless a new graduate)
Board Certified, Board Eligible, or General Practitioner considered
Comfortable treating forensic, civil commitment, and high-acuity psychiatric patients
Must pass state fingerprinting and background investigation
Ability to work independently within a structured inpatient environment
Working Hours
8:30 AM - 4:30 PM
No Call
No Weekends
No Overtime
