Psychiatrist

We are seeking a board-certified or board-eligible psychiatrist to join our outpatient and intensive outpatient (IOP) behavioral health team. This full-time, onsite role offers a balanced mix of clinical care, supervision, and teaching, with flexibility to tailor IOP tracks based on clinical interests. The ideal candidate will be a collaborative, organized, and patient-centered clinician with a passion for multidisciplinary teamwork and medical education.

Position Highlights

• Clinical vs. Administrative Time Split:
  • Clinical: ~85% (evaluations, medication management, follow-ups)
  • Administrative: ~10–15% (documentation, supervision, team meetings, Medicare certification)

Patient Care Responsibilities

• Conduct 1-hour initial psychiatric evaluations and 30-minute follow-up visits
• Manage a caseload of 8–12 adult patients per day across outpatient and IOP settings
• Review LCSW intake assessments prior to psychiatric evaluations
• Coordinate care with primary and specialty providers
• Respond to rare psychiatric emergencies and assess for Physician’s Emergency Certificate (PEC) when needed

Supervision & Teaching Duties

• Provide clinical supervision to APRNs, LCSWs, and medical students
• Review treatment plans and assist with Medicare treatment certification
• Participate in psychiatry clerkship rotations and mentor medical residents

Schedule & Call Coverage

• Hours: Monday–Friday, standard business hours (e.g., 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM); flexible scheduling available
• Call: 1:4 rotation for weeknights, weekends, and holidays; solo coverage for inpatient, crisis, and consults

Support & Systems

• Robust support staff including LCSWs, APRNs, and administrative personnel
• EMR: Meditech | Dictation: Dragon software available

Patient Population

• Adults (18+) with mood disorders, anxiety, ADHD, psychotic disorders, substance use, and co-occurring conditions
• Patients are generally stable and appropriate for outpatient or IOP level of care

Requirements

• CT State license, DEA and Board Certification required
• General Psychiatry residency training required, additional fellowships can be considered
• Prior leadership experience in any setting required, can stretch if they have good experience
