Psychiatrist Geriatric opportunity with faculty appointment, Carilion Clinic VTCSOM- Roanoke Virginia

Carilion Clinic an academic medical center located in Roanoke, Virginia, has opportunities available for Geriatric Psychiatrists to join the faculty of the Department of Psychiatry. This positions offer the opportunity for teaching Psychiatry fellows and medical students at Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine in Roanoke, but the amount of responsibility will vary. Psychiatrists have academic appointments through the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine. Positions are available immediately due to ongoing growth and expansion.

Our Geriatric Psychiatrists work with patients through the aging process treat patients with depression due to the aging process and those experiencing behavioral issues as a result of cognitive decline (Dementia). We do not see patients with a long-term history of mental illness, but rather those with newly onset symptoms. Our geriatric psychiatrists see patients both in the outpatient clinic setting as well as in the nursing home setting. In the clinic, we work as an interdisciplinary team along Social Workers and nurses.

The schedule is 8-5pm M-F with a mixture of nursing home and outpatient clinic visits. We do not have call for our psychiatrists, but there may be the option to take call with the general psychiatry group.

Job Requirements
Minimum Requirements:

Applicants must have an MD or DO equivalent degree.

Fellowship trained and BC/BE in Geriatric Psychiatry.

Applicants must be eligible for Virginia licensure.
