This role involves:

  • Conducting structured clinical interviews
  • Reviewing medical/military records
  • Completing the VA Mental Health Disability Benefits Questionnaire (DBQ)
  • Providing objective, evidence-based diagnostic impressions without treatment

This is a neutral evaluation-only role — no prescribing, no therapy, no follow-up care.

Job Responsibilities

Perform structured diagnostic assessments for PTSD, anxiety disorders, depressive disorders, trauma-related conditions, and other DSM‑5 categories relevant to service connection.
Review medical records, military service documents, psychological testing (if available), and prior evaluations.
Complete VA Mental Health DBQs accurately, thoroughly, and within required timelines.
Document clinical impressions clearly in the EMR and VA contractor portals.
Maintain strict neutrality: no clinical treatment, prescribing, or therapeutic intervention.
Deliver a professional, respectful, Veteran‑centered experience.
Collaborate with administrative and clinical teams to ensure timely scheduling and report submission.

Qualifications

MD or DO with completed Psychiatry residency.
Active, unrestricted medical license in the United States.
Board certified or board eligible in Psychiatry.

For Psychologists:

Doctoral degree (PhD or PsyD) in Clinical or Counseling Psychology.
Active, unrestricted psychology license in the United States.
Strong background in diagnostic evaluations and psychological interviewing.

Both roles:

Experience performing mental health assessments and DSM‑5 diagnostic formulation.
Reliable high‑speed internet, camera, and private workspace for secure telehealth.
Strong written communication skills, particularly in structured clinical reporting.
Ability to maintain objectivity and comply with federal C&P guidelines.

Preferred:

Prior experience with VA Disability (C&P) exams through QTC, VES, LHI/OptumServe, or other contractors.
Familiarity with VA Mental Health DBQs and the VA disability claims process.
Experience working with military or Veteran populations.
