THE PRACTICE

Behavioral Health & Recovery Services of Stanislaus County - Stanislaus, CA

Behavioral Health & Recovery Services (BHRS) provides integrated mental health services to adults and older adults with a serious mental illness and to children and youth with a serious emotional disturbance. BHRS also provides outpatient and residential alcohol and drug treatment and prevention services and serves as Stanislaus County’s Public Guardian. Services are provided in community-based locations throughout the County by over 500 staff in 80 County administered programs and community partnerships. BHRS has a strong emphasis on partnering with consumers and families, on providing culturally competent services and a belief that individuals can and do recover from mental illness and alcohol and drug addiction.

Outpatient Clinic Services - Tele - Hybrid

  • 20 hours of Adult coverage per week
  • Flexible 8-10 hour shifts, Monday – Friday
  • No call, nights, or weekends
  • Monthly staffing includes 3 weeks of Tele-Psychiatry, with 1 week of in-person coverage
  • Must be comfortable serving chronic county patients

Forensic Services

  • Psychiatrist, in a forensic expert role; not a clinical/treatment role
  • 8-10 hours/week; anticipated Court time, when necessary scheduled for Monday mornings
  • Prior forensic psychiatry/psychology experience, including report-writing and Court testimony
  • Stanislaus County Superior Court’s implementation of CARE Act {WIC 5970-5987} (Community Assistance, Recovery, and Empowerment Act) CARE Court
    • Stanislaus, Glenn, Orange, Riverside, San Diego, San Francisco, and Tuolumne Counties first to implement CARE October 2023; remaining counties to have guidelines and protocols by December 2024
    • New civil court process to connect adults with SMI diagnosed with a psychotic disorder, who are not clinically stable in ongoing voluntary treatment, with County behavioral health services, under a judge’s oversight
    • Person is unlikely to survive safely in community w/o supervision, AND
    • Condition is substantially deteriorating; OR
    • In need of services and supports in order to prevent a relapse/deterioration that would likely result in 5150 = grave disability or serious harm to the person or others
