Job Overview
We are seeking a Board-Certified Psychiatrist for a locum tenens opportunity in Newton, Massachusetts. This is a full-time inpatient role within a well-supported behavioral health unit, ideal for physicians experienced in managing a broad range of adult psychiatric conditions.
Schedule
- 📆 Duration: 13 weeks (with potential extension)
- 🕘 Shift: Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- ⏱️ Shift Length: 8 hours
- 🚫 Call: Not required
Job Responsibilities
📋 Conduct psychiatric evaluations, assessments, and diagnoses
💊 Develop and manage treatment plans, including medication management
🔄 Monitor patient progress and adjust care plans as needed
🧾 Maintain accurate and timely documentation in EPIC EMR
🤝 Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team (RNs, therapists, social workers, etc.)
🚨 Manage acute psychiatric conditions such as mood disorders, psychosis, and substance use
🗣️ Participate in treatment team meetings and care coordination
👥 Ensure patient-centered care and adherence to safety protocols
📢 Provide guidance and support to clinical staff when needed
Qualifications
🏅 Board Certified in Psychiatry (Required)
📜 Active Massachusetts Medical License (Required)
💊 DEA Certification (Required)
📈 Minimum 1 year of inpatient psychiatry experience
💻 EPIC EMR experience (Required)
🧠 Strong expertise in managing adult psychiatric conditions
🤝 Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary care team
🗣️ Excellent communication and clinical decision-making skills
⚖️ Comfortable working in a structured inpatient setting with moderate patient volume
Working Hours
🕘 Shift Timing: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
📅 Schedule: Monday – Friday
⏱️ Shift Length: 8-hour day shifts
🗓️ Coverage: Full-time (40 hours/week)
🚫 On-Call: Not required
