Psychiatrist – Addiction Medicine | Outpatient Behavioral Health | Lexington, KY | Locums



Job Description:

We are actively seeking a Board Certified or Board Eligible Psychiatrist for a locum tenens opportunity in Lexington, Kentucky within a structured outpatient addiction treatment setting.

This position offers a predictable weekday schedule and focuses on substance use disorder treatment within a medically monitored program.

If you are experienced in addiction medicine and value a collaborative, team-based clinical environment, this assignment provides strong structure and defined coverage needs.



Position Highlights:
• Location: Lexington, KY
• Setting: Outpatient Addiction Treatment Program
• Schedule: Monday–Friday
• Hours: 5:00 AM – 1:30 PM
• 40 hours per week
• 3-month assignment with extension potential
• No nights or traditional call
• Interview with Medical Director



Clinical Environment:
• Adult patient population
• Substance use disorder treatment (MAT-focused)
• Structured program setting
• Medication management and physical assessments
• Interdisciplinary collaboration with nursing and counseling staff
• Leadership oversight within treatment program



Responsibilities:
• Psychiatric evaluations and admissions assessments
• Medication management (Schedule II–V)
• Annual and re-admission physical exams
• Review labs and adjust treatment plans
• Participate in quality assurance and team meetings
• Ensure compliance with state and federal addiction treatment regulations



Requirements:
• MD or DO
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry
• Active Kentucky medical license
• Active DEA with prescriptive authority
• Completion of ACGME-accredited Psychiatry residency
• Experience in addiction medicine or substance use treatment preferred
• Comfort working in structured outpatient behavioral health programs



Compensation:

Compensation is competitive and based on overall background, experience, and fit for the assignment. Details will be discussed directly with qualified candidates. Travel considerations may be discussed if applicable.
