A dynamic, internally motivated professional who provides psychiatric assessment, diagnosis and relevant treatment planning to patients in a substance abuse and mental health treatment setting. The Psychiatrist plays an integral part of the multi-disciplinary team to provide the highest quality care for all patients. Performs acts of medical diagnosis and prescription of medical therapeutic or corrective measures as licensure allows. Responsibilities include general medical and psychiatric coverage that reflects new or ongoing medical problems and initial evaluations. These may include: medical histories, physical exams, mental status evaluations, assessments, admission orders, and acute and chronic medication management. Psychiatric problems and needs will be addressed with the assistance and guidance of the Medical Director. Uses an understanding of the principles of growth and development to assess each patient’s age specific needs and provides age specific treatment and care.

QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge of addiction, gathering and interpreting information about dependence, the natural history of dependence, as well as the bio-psychosocial influences and effects of dependencies is required. Understanding the range of treatments needed, the range of treatments available, as well as the appropriate use of therapeutic interventions. The ability to work in a supportive, caring and non-judgmental environment with staff and patients. The ability to function calmly in crisis situations. The ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all staff members, patients, outside agencies, families and members of the community. The ability to confer with other professional members of the treatment team in order to develop, coordinator and integrate treatment plans.

Board Certified and licensed DO or MD in the state of employment. Valid DEA certification. Buprenorphine certification completed within 60 days of hire or contract.
