Practice Details
- Clinic-based psychiatry within a detention facility
- Adult patient population
- 2 days per week (8:00 AM – 6:00 PM), on-site
- Visit structure:
- 60-minute initial evaluations
- 30-minute follow-ups
- Active patient panel: ~280 patients (typically seen every 1–3 months)
Clinical Environment
- Nursing support for scheduling, triage, and coordination
- Multidisciplinary team including therapists
- Structured clinic workflow within a secure setting
- Focus on continuity of care for justice-involved patients
Job Responsibilities
- Conduct psychiatric evaluations and medication management in a correctional clinic setting
- Diagnose and treat a range of psychiatric conditions in adult patients
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans
- Manage an established patient panel with scheduled follow-ups
- Collaborate with nursing staff and therapists to coordinate care
- Participate in treatment planning and care coordination
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record
- Provide patient-centered care within a structured and secure environment
Working Hours
- Part-time: 2 days per week
- 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM schedule
- On-site coverage required
- No call required
Qualifications
- MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry
- Active California medical license (or ability to obtain)
- DEA license required
- Experience in correctional, inpatient, or outpatient psychiatry preferred
