Overview:
Seeking a flexible, adaptable Psychiatrist to provide coverage across multiple facilities throughout California. This role is ideal for physicians who enjoy variety, autonomy, and broad clinical exposure.
What You’ll Do:
- Provide care across inpatient, outpatient, consult/liaison, and ED settings
- Conduct psychiatric evaluations & medication management
- Develop and implement treatment plans
- Perform risk assessments & involuntary holds (5150s)
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
- Complete EMR documentation
- Assist with coverage gaps and shift handoffs
Requirements:
- Active California medical license
- Board Certified or Board Eligible – Psychiatry
- Comfortable in varied clinical environments
- Strong communication & teamwork skills
- Willingness to travel throughout California
Schedule:

Job Responsibilities
Provide psychiatric care across inpatient, outpatient, consult/liaison, and emergency settings
Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and medication management
Develop and implement individualized treatment plans
Perform risk assessments, crisis intervention, and initiate involuntary holds (5150s)
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including nursing, social work, and case management
Document all encounters in electronic medical records (EMR)
Communicate effectively with patients, families, and community resources
Assist with PRN coverage needs, shift handoffs, and continuity of care
Adhere to facility protocols, state regulations, and quality standards
Qualifications
Active California medical license (required)
Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry
Experience in inpatient, outpatient, ER, or consult/liaison settings preferred
Ability to perform psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and risk assessments
Familiarity with 5150/5585 involuntary hold procedures
Strong communication, documentation, and teamwork skills
Comfortable working in fast-paced, high-acuity environments
Ability to adapt quickly to new clinical settings and workflows
Reliable, flexible, and responsive for PRN coverage needs
Working Hours
PRN / As-Needed Coverage
Flexible scheduling based on facility needs and provider availability
Shifts may include days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays
Opportunities for ongoing or block scheduling depending on site needs
Typical shift lengths range from 8–12 hours
