Position: Psychiatrist
Schedule: Full-Time, Monday–Friday (8:00 AM – 4:30 PM)
Pay: $235 per hour
Make an Impact in Community Behavioral Health
Southern Indian Health Council is seeking a Board-Certified Psychiatrist to provide outpatient psychiatric care while supporting a collaborative, multidisciplinary care team serving Native American communities.
This role combines direct patient care, care coordination, and quality improvement involvement in a mission-driven environment.
Position Overview

Evaluate, diagnose, and treat mental health conditions (~20 patients/week)

Provide psychiatric evaluations and medication management

Develop individualized treatment plans and provide ongoing care

Collaborate with physicians, social workers, and behavioral health teams
-
Counsel patients and families; support continuity of care
-
Participate in peer review, clinical meetings, and quality improvement initiatives

Maintain accurate and compliant medical documentation
Key Responsibilities

Prescribe and manage medications for mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders

Conduct diagnostic testing and assessments as needed

Coordinate referrals and specialty services

Participate in outreach and community mental health education

Support integrated behavioral health within primary care

Ensure compliance with regulatory standards (AAAHC, OSHA, etc.)
Qualifications
-
MD or DO with Board Certification in Psychiatry
-
Active, unrestricted California medical license
-
Minimum 2 years of community-based clinical experience
-
DEA registration
-
CPR & ACLS certification
-
Experience working with diverse populations; sensitivity to Native American culture strongly preferred
Additional Requirements

Ability to work a flexible schedule as needed
