Staff Psychiatrist – Psychiatric Emergency Services (PES)
Location: Martinez, California
A well-established behavioral health program in Martinez, CA is seeking a Staff Psychiatrist to provide overnight coverage in a Psychiatric Emergency Services (PES) setting. This position offers the opportunity to work with an interdisciplinary team providing urgent psychiatric evaluation and treatment to patients experiencing acute mental health crises.
Position Overview
The Staff Psychiatrist will provide psychiatric evaluations, diagnosis, and treatment planning for patients presenting to Psychiatric Emergency Services. This role also supports clinical staff through consultation and guidance related to psychiatric and medical issues.
Schedule

Overnight coverage

6:00 PM – 9:00 AM PT (7 shifts)

11:00 PM – 9:00 AM PT (2 shifts)

Total: 9 shifts every 4 weeks

Rotating schedule
Patient Volume
-
Average daily census: 25–30 patients
Key Responsibilities
-
Conduct psychiatric evaluations for patients presenting with acute mental health needs
-
Diagnose and treat patients with mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders
-
Develop treatment plans and coordinate care with the multidisciplinary team
-
Provide clinical consultation, training, and support to nursing and clinical staff on psychiatric and medical-related issues

Document patient encounters and treatment plans in the electronic medical record
-
Participate in team discussions and care coordination within the PES environment
Qualifications
-
MD or DO with completion of Psychiatry residency
-
Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry
-
Active California medical license or ability to obtain

Experience in emergency psychiatry, inpatient psychiatry, or crisis stabilization preferred

Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
Skills & Competencies
