Position Overview
Seeking a Board Certified or Board Eligible Psychiatrist to join a collaborative behavioral health team serving a coastal Virginia community. This role includes providing inpatient and outpatient psychiatric care while working alongside a multidisciplinary team dedicated to delivering compassionate, patient-centered behavioral health services.
The position offers a balanced schedule with strong clinical support and opportunities to work with adult and geriatric patient populations.
Qualifications / Candidate Requirements
* MD or DO from an accredited medical school
* Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry
* Eligible for Virginia medical licensure
* Strong communication and collaboration skills
* Commitment to high-quality behavioral health care
Position Highlights / Opportunity Highlights
* Monday–Friday schedule (8:00 AM – 5:00 PM)
* No weekend call
* Average inpatient census of approximately 6 patients
* Manage approximately 3–4 consultation cases on medical/surgical units per month
* Provide psychiatric care for approximately 14–16 patients per day
* Mix of inpatient, outpatient, and telepsychiatry services
* Collaboration with psychiatrists, nurse practitioners, social workers, nurses, and primary care providers
* Participation in treatment team meetings and discharge planning
* Opportunity to support consultation-liaison services for medical/surgical units
