A healthcare facility in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania is seeking a Locum Psychiatrist to provide inpatient mental health coverage for adult patients within an acute mental health unit. This role focuses on managing individuals presenting with acute psychiatric symptoms in a structured clinical environment.

The physician will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to assess, diagnose, and manage psychiatric conditions while ensuring safe and effective treatment plans. This opportunity offers a consistent weekday schedule and the ability to make a meaningful impact by providing behavioral health services to a high-need patient population.

Job Responsibilities

• Provide psychiatric evaluations and treatment for adult patients with acute mental health conditions
• Diagnose and manage psychiatric disorders in an inpatient correctional healthcare setting
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans
• Prescribe and manage psychiatric medications
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary clinical teams including nursing and behavioral health staff
• Document patient encounters and treatment plans in the medical record
• Participate in care coordination and discharge planning when applicable

Qualifications

• Board Eligible or Board Certified in Psychiatry
• Active Pennsylvania Medical License required
• BLS certification required
• ACLS certification preferred
• Experience managing acute psychiatric conditions in inpatient settings preferred

Working Hours

• Monday – Friday schedule
• 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM shifts
• Assignment expected May 2026 – July 2026
• Credentialing timeframe: approximately 60 days
