Job Details

• Position: Locum Tenens Psychiatrist / Inpatient Psychiatrist (Adult)
• Location: Troy, NY 12180 — Capital Region, near Albany and the Adirondacks; great access to local arts, parks, and community amenities
• Setting: Adult Inpatient Behavioral Health Unit — 30 beds (approx. 15 patients per provider)
• Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
• Shift Duration: 8 Hour Days
• Call: 1:4 rotation (includes occasional weekend and night call)
• Duration: 13-week locum tenens assignment, start as soon as credentialed
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $7,230 – $7,750 per week
• EMR: EPIC
• Safety: 24/7 security and established safety protocols for inpatient psychiatry

Job Requirements / Qualifications

• Board Certified in Psychiatry (required) — board-certified psychiatrists preferred for locum tenens roles
• Active New York medical license at time of submission (required) — New York psychiatry jobs require state licensure
• ACLS certification (required)
• Clean background for expedited credentialing (required)
• Self-query NPDB report required at time of presentation
• Must be available full-time for the duration of the assignment
• At least 1 year of post-residency clinical experience in inpatient psychiatry or behavioral health preferred

Responsibilities — Inpatient Psychiatry & Behavioral Health

• Provide comprehensive psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment for adult inpatients
• Manage medication-assisted and psychotherapy treatment plans in collaboration with the multidisciplinary behavioral health team
• Participate in 1:4 call rotation, providing weekend and night coverage as required
• Document assessments, progress notes, and treatment plans in EPIC EMR in a timely, compliant manner
• Ensure patient safety, participate in hospital codes, and perform crisis interventions when indicated
• Occasionally evaluate pediatric patients in the crisis unit during weekend call (with transfer as appropriate)
