Schedule: 40 hours per week
Shift: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Duration: Minimum 3 months from projected start date
Job Summary
The Psychiatrist is responsible for evaluating, diagnosing, and treating patients with mental health conditions. This role includes prescribing medications, conducting psychotherapy and counseling sessions, performing forensic evaluations, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient care.
Key Responsibilities
• Evaluate, examine, analyze, diagnose, and treat patients with mental health disorders
• Prescribe medications and provide in-depth psychotherapy and counseling (e.g., psychoanalysis, behavior modification)
• Monitor and coordinate medical, nursing, and direct care staff related to psychiatric services
• Review patient records for accuracy and completeness; recommend improvements in staffing and organization
• Conduct psychological and/or neuropsychological evaluations and assessments
• Administer, score, and interpret psychological tests
• Develop, evaluate, and update treatment plans
• Conduct individual and group counseling sessions addressing issues such as substance abuse, trauma, self-injury, suicidal ideation, grief, impulse control, family and interpersonal concerns
• Perform suicide risk assessments and crisis intervention, including de-escalation techniques
• Participate in treatment team meetings and provide guidance to team members
• Prepare progress notes, evaluation reports, forensic reports, discharge summaries, and behavioral recommendations
• Evaluate competency to stand trial and mental status when applicable
• Provide expert testimony in court when required
• Coordinate services with internal and community-based providers
• Assist with program development, research, and policy recommendations
Minimum Qualifications
• Doctoral Degree (MD or DO) in Psychiatry
• Active Medical License
• DEA Certification
• Healthcare Provider CPR Certification
