ATC West Healthcare Services is seeking a part-time Locum Psychiatrist to provide inpatient psychiatric coverage during sporadic dates in 2026. The physician will work in a well-supported inpatient psychiatric unit, managing an adult patient population and supervising psychiatric nurse practitioners. This role offers weekday coverage with optional unrestricted call and strong on-site security and clinical support.

Dates / Schedule

• Coverage Type: Sporadic part-time coverage in 2026

• Primary Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM

• Call: 5:00 PM–8:00 AM, unrestricted call if available

• Open Dates:

  • February 12–13

  • February 16–20

  • February 23–March 1

  • Additional sporadic coverage ongoing

Job Details & Responsibilities

• Inpatient psychiatric care in a dedicated psychiatric department

• Average daily census of approximately 12 patients

• Unit details:

  • 27 inpatient beds

  • 5 psychiatrists in the group

  • 6 psychiatric APPs for support

• Supervise psychiatric nurse practitioners

• Treat adult patients only (no pediatrics)

• Manage referrals primarily from Muskegon and Grand Rapids emergency departments

• Utilize EPIC EMR

• Participate in inpatient treatment planning and medication management

• Work within established safety protocols, including staff duress systems and 24/7 on-site security

• Estimated credentialing timeframe of approximately 3 months (expedited need)

Required Skills & Qualifications

Licensure & Certification:

• Board Certified in Psychiatry

• Active Michigan medical license

• BLS certification

Clinical Experience & Competencies:

• Experience treating a wide range of psychiatric disorders, including:

  • Anxiety, affective, psychotic, personality, eating, developmental, organic disorders

  • ADD/ADHD

• Familiarity with:

  • Involuntary commitments

  • Seclusion and restraint application

  • Pharmacotherapy

  • Group therapy
