Job description
Seeking a Board-Certified Psychiatrist for part-time locum coverage in an inpatient psychiatric setting. This role involves sporadic weekday coverage throughout 2026 with on-call responsibilities. The psychiatrist will work within a multidisciplinary team and supervise psychiatric nurse practitioners while providing high-quality inpatient mental health care to adult patients.
Job Responsibilities
• Manage an average daily census of approximately 12 patients
• Supervise Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners
• Perform psychiatric evaluations, treatment planning, and medication management
• Handle involuntary commitments and crisis situations as required
• Participate in on-call coverage during assigned periods
• Collaborate with emergency departments for referrals and transfers
• Utilize EMR for documentation and patient management
Qualifications
• Active Michigan Medical License (Required)
• BLS Certification (Required)
• Must be available to cover the listed dates with no exceptions
• Experience in inpatient psychiatric settings preferred
Working Hours
• On-call: 5:00 PM – 8:00 AM (unrestricted call if able)
• No weekend requirements
• Sporadic coverage dates including:
o 2/12, 2/13, 2/16–2/20, 2/23–3/1
o Ongoing sporadic coverage throughout 2026
Skills
• Experience with ADD/ADHD treatment
• Familiarity with involuntary commitments and restraint application
• Pharmacotherapy and group therapy experience
• Ability to work in a secure inpatient environment
• Strong collaboration and supervision skills
