Overview

Inpatient Psychiatry opportunity in Muskegon, MI, seeking a Board-Certified Psychiatrist for sporadic weekday locum coverage in 2026. The provider will manage adult inpatient psychiatric patients and supervise Psychiatric NPs in a secure hospital-based setting.

Practice Highlights

• Inpatient Psychiatric Department

• Adult-only patient population (no pediatrics)

• Average census: ~12 patients per day

• 27 total inpatient beds

• Team includes 5 Psychiatrists and 6 Psychiatric NPs

• Supervision of Psychiatric NPs required

• Referrals primarily from Muskegon and Grand Rapids EDs

• 24/7 on-site security and staff duress system

• EMR: Epic
  
  

Candidate Requirements

• Board Certified in Psychiatry – REQUIRED

• Active Michigan medical license – REQUIRED

• BLS – REQUIRED

• Must be available for the listed dates (no exceptions)

• Experience treating:

  • Anxiety, Affective, Psychotic, Personality, Eating, Developmental & Organic Disorders

• Familiarity with:

  • Involuntary commitments

  • Seclusion therapy

  • Pharmacotherapy

  • Group therapy

  • Restraint application
    
    

Schedule & Coverage

• Sporadic weekday coverage throughout 2026

• Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

• Call: 5:00 PM – 8:00 AM (unrestricted call if able)

• Open Dates:

  • 2/12, 2/13

  • 2/16 – 2/20

  • 2/23 – 3/1

• Ongoing sporadic coverage available

• Estimated credentialing: ~3 months (ASAP need)

• Availability must be confirmed at time of name clear
