Job Title: Psychiatrist- Region 3
Location: Lucasville, Ohio 45699, US.
Schedule: 16–20 hours per week. Scheduling is flexible based on facility needs, with core hours generally between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
Patient volume: 12–16 patients per 8-hour shift.
Assignment length: Minimum of 6 months; strong potential for extension or permanent hire for the right candidate
Position Overview:
The Psychiatrist will provide comprehensive psychiatric care within a correctional facility, working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to deliver evidence-based behavioral health services in accordance with national standards and institutional policies.
Key Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with intra- and interdepartmental staff to assess, diagnose, and treat behavioral health patients
• Conduct psychiatric evaluations, examinations, and prepare clinical reports
• Order, review, and interpret diagnostic tests
• Prescribe and manage psychiatric medications
• Refer patients to specialized services or higher levels of care as appropriate
• Perform duties in compliance with scope of practice, Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction (ODRC) policies, procedures, protocols, and American Correctional Association standards
• Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives, including peer reviews and performance meetings
• Engage in collaborative agreements when required
Requirements:
• Active and unrestricted Ohio medical license
• DEA certification
• Healthcare-provider level CPR certification
