Psychiatrist – After-Hours Inpatient Telepsychiatry (Illinois License Required)

Schedule: 5:00 PM – 5:00 AM CST | Flexible Nights | 1099 Contract

Position Overview

Alina Telehealth is seeking a BC/BE Psychiatrist with an active Illinois medical license to provide after-hours inpatient telepsychiatry coverage. This role focuses on ER consults, floor consults, and admission determinations — all delivered remotely with full clinical support from the onsite team.

This is an excellent opportunity for psychiatrists who prefer predictable structure, work-from-home convenience, and meaningful inpatient clinical work.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide ER psychiatric evaluations and respond within required timeframes

  • ER consults: 45-minute response time

  • Floor consults: 4-hour response time

• Manage admissions, psychiatric assessments, and follow-ups for adult inpatients

• Collaborate with onsite social workers and nurses

• Review occasional eating disorder ER cases and determine need for admission

• Complete documentation in hospital EMR systems (Epic, Meditech, or Cerner)

• Ensure all assigned consults are completed within the shift

Patient Details

• Adult inpatient population only

• Average volume: 5–6 patients per shift

• Mix of ER consults, floor consults, and occasional ED-related assessments

Schedule

• Shift: 5:00 PM – 5:00 AM CST

• Days: Monday through Sunday (provider may select preferred nights)

• One dedicated provider preferred for full 12-hour shift coverage

Requirements

• Active and unrestricted Illinois medical license

• Active IL DEA license

• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry

• Experience with inpatient and/or emergency psychiatry preferred

• Comfortable using EMRs (Epic, Meditech, or Cerner)

• Must be able to meet required response times
