Psychiatrist Locum Tenens Job | Utilization Management Non-Clinical Services | California Bay Area
Details/Requirements:
*Ongoing coverage for an administrative position for a locum tenens Psychiatrist to do Utilization Management, including chart reviews and approve or deny acute hospital days for the client's beneficiaries admitted into inpatient acute psychiatric units. Broad age range from children to older adults. However, the majority of the chart reviews (~75%) will be for adults. Do NOT have to be child trained.
*At this time, the client is limiting the search to ONLY local candidates.
*The State of California requires under Medi-Cal that each day of an acute inpatient stay in a hospital must be reviewed to determine if client meets Medical Necessity defined by Medi-Cal.
*There is an entire team of clinicians who do much of the work. After they make a determination for each day, if that day of the hospital stay was recommended to be denied, then the Psychiatrist must make the final determination of whether the client met medical necessity, did not meet medical necessity or met the criteria for an Administrative Day.
*Occasionally there is a need for “doc to doc” consultation between the UM psychiatrist and the treating psychiatrist at the inpatient unit.
*Schedule: Full-Time – 40 hours, 8 hours a day, Monday through Friday schedule - work may be done remotely via tele health except 1st Tuesdays of the month for in person staff meetings/trainings
*Hours: 8:30am-5:00pm
*No call.
*Client has an E.H.R., so candidates must be computer savvy.
*Length of assignment: 6 months or long term with interest in becoming permanently hired.
