• Job Title: Psychiatrist
• Job Type: Locum Tenens
• Location: San Jose, CA

• Coverage Type: Clinical Only
• Coverage Period: 01/01/2026 – Ongoing
• Clinical Shift Schedule: Flexible schedule, 12–16 hours/week within Mon–Fri, 8:30a–5p

PATIENT INFORMATION
• Patient Demographics: Adults and children with developmental disabilities and mental health disorders
• Patient Volume/Census: 12–16 hours of outpatient visits per week
• Phone Consults: Yes (as part of telehealth care)
• Case Mix: Developmental disabilities, intellectual disabilities, mood and anxiety disorders

FACILITY INFORMATION
• EMR System: Avatar NX
• Office Equipment Available: Standard outpatient psychiatric office setup with telehealth capabilities
• Specialty Backup Available: Clinical staff, nurses, and case managers
• Support Staff Available: Medical Director, RNs, Clinicians, Case Managers
• Reason for Coverage: Growth and increased patient volume

PRIVILEGES & COMPLIANCE
• Credentialing Timeline: 30–60 days
• Vaccination Requirements: COVID-19 and Flu vaccinations required (medical or religious exemption accepted)

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
• Travel, Lodging, and Malpractice Insurance: Not covered; local candidates preferred

REQUIRED PROCEDURES
• Conduct psychiatric assessments/evaluations and mental status examinations
• Provide ongoing medication management
• Develop and implement individualized mental health treatment plans

JOB REQUIREMENTS
• Licenses: Active CA medical license
• Board: Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry (Certification required within 5 years of residency)
• DEA: Active DEA Certification
• Certifications: Must be eligible for MediCal/Medicare certification
• Experience: Prior experience with patients with developmental disabilities and mental health disorders preferred
• Other Qualifications: Proficiency with EMR systems; strong communication and documentation skills; ability to work independently and collaboratively

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Perform psychiatric evaluations, assessments, and MSEs for referred patients
• Provide diagnoses according to DSM guidelines and ongoing medication management
• Document findings and complete medical records as required
• Participate in interdisciplinary collaboration with the Medical Director, nurses, clinicians, and case managers
• Deliver services via telehealth (Zoom) and in-person at least one day per week
• Participate in quality improvement and performance programs as requested
• Educate families and caregivers on treatment plans and psychiatric conditions
• Prepare necessary legal or court-related documentation when appropriate
