Position Summary
The facility is seeking a Inpatient Psychiatrist to join its behavioral health team in Bronx, NY .
This full-time position includes leadership responsibilities as a Unit Chief , overseeing a psychiatric inpatient unit supported by Nurse Practitioners and residents. The Psychiatrist will collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team to ensure coordinated, high-quality patient care while contributing to the hospital’s teaching and training mission.

Essential Position Responsibilities
Provide psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment for patients on the inpatient unit.
Serve as Unit Chief , supervising a team of Nurse Practitioners and 2–3 residents.
Teach and mentor residents and medical students in both clinical and academic settings.
Carry a limited number of direct patient cases while maintaining leadership and oversight duties.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including nursing, social work, and psychology, to deliver comprehensive care.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives and ensure compliance with institutional and regulatory standards.
Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR).
Qualifications
Education: MD or DO degree from an accredited institution.
Licensure & Certification: Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry; active or eligible for New York medical licensure.
Experience: Prior inpatient and/or academic experience preferred. Interest in teaching and resident supervision required.
Language: Bilingual Spanish preferred but not required.
