Job Title: Psychiatrist
Location: Massillon, OH 44646
Duration:3 months to long term
Shift: 20hrs/ week
Job Responsibilities:
•Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of mental illness.
•Perform intake assessments for youth transferred to the facility; determine medication needs and issue prescriptions.
•Respond to mental health referrals from facility staff.
•Complete risk assessments for youth exhibiting suicidal ideation or self-harm behaviors; determine appropriate precautionary levels.
•Facilitate emergency transfers of youth when necessary.
•Notify facility staff of medication starts, changes, and discontinuations.
•Educate youth on medication use, benefits, and side effects; obtain informed consent per policy.
•Provide monthly psychiatric follow-ups, or more frequently as clinically indicated.
•Communicate treatment plans and medication regimens with the youth’s parent/guardian when required.
•Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team (directly or via written/electronic communication).
• Participate in peer reviews of advanced-level providers as required.
• Provide 24/7 emergency consultation access (via phone) to nursing or psychological staff.
• Follow-up on telephone consultations by examining the youth and co-signing orders within 5 business days.
• Communicate planned absences and arrange appropriate coverage in advance.
• Maintain accurate, secure, and confidential documentation per facility, state, and professional standards.
Qualifications and Skills:
• Active Medical License in the State of Oregon
• Board Certified in Psychiatry (or Board Eligible within one year)
Preferred:
• Board Certification in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry
• Prior experience in juvenile justice or residential treatment settings
