Job description
Seeking a Locum Psychiatrist to provide inpatient psychiatric care. The physician will join a dedicated behavioral health team in a state-of-the-art hospital, offering high-quality, compassionate mental health care to the community.
Job Responsibilities
Supervise Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners as needed.
Conduct psychiatric evaluations, diagnosis, treatment planning, and medication management.
Manage treatment of patients with anxiety, affective, psychotic, personality, developmental, eating, ADD/ADHD, and organic disorders.
Utilize therapeutic interventions such as seclusion therapy, pharmacotherapy, group therapy, and restraint application as clinically appropriate.
Collaborate with the psychiatry team, including 5 psychiatrists and 6 advanced practice providers.
Participate in weekday coverage (8a–5p) with call coverage (5p–8a).
Ensure thorough documentation in EMR (Epic).
Qualifications
Active Michigan Medical License – Required
BLS Certification – Required
Prior experience in inpatient psychiatry preferred.
Familiarity with involuntary commitments and emergency psychiatric protocols.
Ability to supervise psychiatric nurse practitioners.
Working Hours
On-Call: 5:00 PM – 8:00 AM (unrestricted call if able)
Skills
Strong communication and leadership skills.
Proficiency with EMR (Epic preferred).
Ability to handle crisis situations with professionalism.
Familiarity with safety/security procedures in inpatient psychiatric units.
