Job description
Clinical responsibilities will be based in Integral Care settings and tailored to the candidate’s interests, which may include outpatient care, crisis services, residential treatment, or jail psychiatry. The position includes opportunities for teaching and mentoring medical students and residents, contributing to new models of integrated care, and engaging in scholarly activities. The psychiatrist will play an essential role in advancing high-quality, evidence-based care for individuals with serious mental illness while helping shape the next generation of psychiatric professionals.
Qualifications
Required:
- Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) degree.
- Unrestricted license to practice medicine in Texas or eligibility to obtain licensure prior to appointment.
- Board certification in psychiatry or board eligibility with a commitment to obtaining certification within two years.
- Completion of a four-year psychiatry residency program.
- Eligible for credentialing and privileging at UT Health Austin.
- Eligible for a faculty appointment as Assistant or Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences.
Preferred:
- Experience working in an academic medical center or university-affiliated health system.
- Prior involvement in teaching medical students, residents, or fellows.
- Demonstrated interest in or experience with community psychiatry or public mental health systems.
- Experience working within multidisciplinary teams or integrated behavioral health settings.
- Interest or experience in program development, quality improvement, or research initiatives.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish, or experience working with different, underserved populations.
