Job description The Oklahoma City VA Healthcare System (OCVAHCS) is actively recruiting a full-time Clinical neuropsychologist to join our Psychology department. The following clinical activities are performed under the close supervision of a licensed Psychologist unless the person holds a full, current, and unrestricted license to practice psychology at the doctoral level in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or the District of Columbia.

Job Responsibilities

Provides a full range of Neuropsychological Evaluation and Consultation services, including the use of a range of assessment tools.
Chooses the most appropriate Neuropsychological tools to address referral questions.
Performs neuropsychological evaluations for Veterans in inpatient and outpatient settings.
Performs neuropsychological evaluations, interprets results, completes written reports and provides feedback to patients presenting with a wide range of mental health and physical disorders.
Works collaboratively with a psychology technician; directs psychology technician on which tests are to be administered.
Ensures the physical and information security of testing materials and PII/PHI.
Consults with referring provider/team, other OKC VA HCS psychologists, and other Neuropsychologists, as necessary, on a wide variety of patient care issues.
Evaluates and makes the disposition of patients to treatment programs in the OKC VA Health Care System, as well as referral to community programs and vocational placement. Serves as a consultant to other staff in evaluating and assisting veterans with complex vocational problems.
Provides independent psychological services at all levels of complexity and consults with peers and supervisors as appropriate.
Ensures documentation is completed timely and within the facility guidelines/regulations.
Ensures coding is in accordance with the OMHSP MH Coding Guidelines.
Exercises courtesy in all verbal and written interactions with staff, patients and others.
Reviews incoming consults for appropriateness. Manages consults in accordance with VA policy and timeliness standards. Monitors open encounters list and pending consults lists. Assists MSA clerk with scheduling procedures on an as-needed basis.
Ensures secure storage and proper retention/disposal of psychological assessment test data in accordance with current VA Records Control Schedule.
Places consults for Veterans when clinically indicated.
Places RTCs in accordance with VHA directives and scheduling guidelines to ensure accurate patient appointment scheduling.
Obtains PMDB training in accordance with a workplace setting per the annual Workplace Behavioral Risk Assessment.

Academic/Teaching/Training:
May provide didactic education to various disciplines and levels of training: medical students, psychiatric residents, psychology graduate students, psychology postdoctoral fellows and psychology interns, as appropriate to location.
Provides leadership guidance and consultation to staff of units to which they are assigned.
Serves as a consultant to other VA Health Care System staff and trainees and assists in their case formulation and forming appropriate treatment expectations.

Research/Program Evaluation:
Oversees/implements program monitors and outcome measurements within program assigned using a data-driven quality assurance process.
Is responsible for timely completion of all clinical charting and documentation required by the medical center, as appropriate.

Qualifications

United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.

Education:
Have a doctoral degree in psychology from a graduate program in psychology accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA), the Psychological Clinical Science Accreditation System (PCSAS), or the Canadian Psychological Association (CPA) at the time the program was completed. The specialty area of the degree must be consistent with the assignment for which the applicant is to be employed. For the purpose of meeting this requirement, the term "specialty area" refers to the specific specialty areas recognized by the accrediting body and not to specific job duties that might require special skills. Currently, APA accredits doctoral programs in the specialty areas of clinical psychology, counseling psychology, school psychology, or combinations of two or more of those areas. PCSAS accredits doctoral programs in psychological clinical science. CPA accredits doctoral programs in clinical psychology, counseling psychology, clinical neuropsychology, and school psychology.
OR
(2) Have a doctoral degree in any area of psychology and, in addition, successfully complete a re-specialization program (including documentation of an approved internship completed as part of the re-specialization program) meeting both of the following conditions:(a) The re-specialization program must be completed in an APA or a CPA accredited doctoral program; and,(b) the specialty in which the applicant is retrained must be consistent with the assignment for which the applicant is to be employed. OR
(3) Have a doctoral degree awarded between 1951 and 1978 from a regionally-accredited institution, with a dissertation primarily psychological in nature.
AND
(4) Internships
(a) Have successfully completed a professional psychology internship training program that was accredited by APA or CPA at the time the program was completed and that is consistent with the assignment for which the applicant is to be employed.

Monday–Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm

Skills

Staff Psychologist, GS-11 (Entry Level)
Experience. None beyond the basic requirements.

Staff Psychologist, GS-12 (Developmental Level)

Experience. At least one year of experience as a professional psychologist equivalent
to the next lower grade level (GS-11). Psychologists who are not licensed must practice under the supervision of a licensed psychologist but with less intense supervision than at the GS-11 grade level.

In addition to the experience above, the candidate must demonstrate all of the following Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs) listed below.
1. Knowledge of and ability to apply a wide range of professional psychological treatments or assessment methods to a variety of patient populations.
2. Ability to design and implement effective treatment strategies.
3. Ability to incorporate new clinical procedures.
4. Ability to conduct research activities, such as designing and implementing clinical research projects (staff psychologists with specified research job duties).
5. Ability to perform basic research tasks of scholarship and research execution within the context of an established research team, including research participant relations, research documentation, data acquisition, maintenance, and collaboration.
Preferred Experience: Experience and training related to Neuropsychological Assessment. Board certification or board-eligible ABCN/ABPP preferred.
