Job description
Job description
Step into a high-impact leadership role with one of Vermont's largest nonprofit community mental health systems. As Medical Director, you'll guide clinical excellence while helping shape the future of behavioral health services across the region. Our mission is rooted in compassion—supporting individuals facing mental illness, substance use challenges, and developmental disabilities.
This is a leadership-forward role with significant flexibility: choose how much direct patient care you provide, work remotely for most administrative responsibilities, and enjoy meaningful influence without sacrificing work-life balance.
Highlights:
• Lead a team of 7 psychiatrists and APRNs across outpatient, residential, and crisis services
• Shape long-term strategy in partnership with executive leadership
• Drive quality improvement and ensure compliance with state regulatory standards
• Collaborate with local healthcare systems and community stakeholders
• Consult on complex clinical cases and support crisis response teams
What We Offer:
• Up to $300,000 fixed salary and $10,000 relocation
• Student loan reimbursement
• Flexible schedule with reduced or optional clinical hours
• Supportive, mission-driven organization with robust infrastructure and funding
• Full benefits: 401k w/ match, PTO, CME time + allowance, malpractice, medical/dental/vision coverage
What We're Looking For:
• BC Psychiatrist - Training in Child & Adolescent or Addiction preferred
• 3+ yrs of leadership experience preferred
• Must live in or be willing to relocate to Central Vermont
Why Vermont?
• Outdoor Paradise - Home to Stowe Mountain Resort, offering world-class skiing, hiking, plus stunning fall foliage and pristine lakes
• Vibrant Culture - Farm-to-table restaurants, craft breweries, art galleries and year-round festivals
• Exceptional Quality of Life - Experience clean air, breathtaking scenery and a relaxed pace of life
