Staff Psychiatrist

Salary Range: $150/hr or $312,000 Flexible weekly hours
Location: Lower East Side, NY, NY - Hybrid and On Site
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Client is an organization that serves children and adults with developmental disabilities and/or mental health diagnoses; including anxiety, depression, disruptive behaviors, ADHD, and PTSD. Clinicians work in a multidisciplinary team of psychologists, social workers, BCBAs, and Psychiatrists. CARES also has an active APA Psychology Internship program, APPIC-membership fellowship Psychology program, and Social Work Internship program.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The Staff Psychiatrist is responsible for the psychiatric health and wellness of clients, all assessment, and prescribing processes, and overseeing the clinical services provided by the agency.

  • Review and approve treatment plans, medical history, and medical reviews.

  • Provides input for enhanced client care via weekly clinical team meetings, supervision, and problem-solving sessions.

  • Ensures that all documentation (one's own and those who are being supervised) is timely, clinically appropriate, and adheres to all regulatory standards.

  • Spends between 80% and 85% of their time seeing CARES clients: interviews clients to obtain physical and mental health history, performs psychiatric examinations, orders labs and other tests, and prescribes medications and treatments.

  • Oversee clinical team.

  • Services are provided both onsite and via Telehealth.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • The Staff Psychiatrist must be a board-certified, licensed to treat both children and adults in New York State.

  • Knowledge of typical and neurodiverse populations.

  • Understanding of Emergency Services in NY State.

  • Demonstrated experience in clinical responsibility and oversight for other professional staff members.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate with staff and clients alike.

  • Computer proficient.

  • Minimum of 10 hour commitment per week.

  • Must be free of any investigations or sanctions by local, state and/or federal regulatory agencies.
