Psychiatry opening near Providence, RI - Located in Woonsocket, RI - Providence 15m - Full-time, permanent position The staff psychiatric physician is responsible for providing behavioral health care to health center patients who have been assigned to him/her. The physician is a licensed, autonomous provider executing professional clinical judgment in the care of his/her patients, according to the guidelines, policies and procedures set forth by the agency. Responsibilities include on-site patient care, hospital care, and after hours call and coverage. Required Qualifications: - M.D. or D.O. with a completed three-year (minimum) residency in one of the following: family medicine, internal medicine, obstetrics/gynecology, pediatrics or psychiatry. - Board Certification; in specialty within two years start of employment. - Full, unrestricted license to practice medicine as a physician in RI Clinical: · Use a variety of methods to evaluate a patient, such as interviewing the patient, their family or other persons. · Develop a treatment plan according to the needs of the patients needs and extent of emotional, social, cognitive, developmental or behavioral disorder. · Treat a patient using psychotherapeutic methods and medication, monitoring the effects of any medication and adjusting treatment where necessary. · Consult with the patients Primary Care Physician, Nurses or other health care providers. · Provide crisis intervention when needed. · Write and maintain patient and clinical records, including the type of treatment and medication administered. · Keep up-to-date with professional job knowledge by reading publications, attending educational conferences or maintaining professional networks. · Follow ethical and legal policies, procedures and standards. · After hours call and coverage for THC and community based patients Administrative: · Participation in departmental, team and full staff meetings to review and develop policies and procedures, health care plans, clinical goals and objectives. · review, documentation and management of medical records · review, coordination of referred services including laboratory, specialty care, pharmacy, ancillary services
