**Psychiatry Medical Director Opening in Holyoke, MA ** Locum Tenens (with potential to be permanent) Needed: Medical Director/CMO for Behaviorial Health Hospital in Holyoke, MA Reason for Coverage: Vacancy - Department Restructuring Inpatient On site hours are typically 8a-5p Must have active MA license and Board Certification. The expectation is to see patients/fill in as needed. Cover potential staffing needs This person would function as a true medical director. (addressing clinical issues/concerns that may arise in a 24 hour period) Major functions will be providing supervision/leadership for the current providers, review of potential admission denial (MA requirement), recruitment/retention of providers, participate in meetings and assist in guiding the hospital clinically until a permanent replacement is found. **Coverage** - Start: ASAP - End:Ongoing **Rate** - Need is urgent! Position Summary: Medical Director ensures the clinical excellence of the hospitals continuum of care and achievement of the hospital mission through the oversight of all the medical aspects of the hospital. The oversight of the Medical Director may include but not be limited to the following areas: Leadership Assumes oversight of the medical staff of the hospital. Participates in the recruitment, retention, and development of all staff members in this area. Ensures adherence to the Medical Staff Bylaws by all members of the hospitals medical staff. Actively participates and provides leadership in the peer review process including OPPE / FPPE activities. Chairs the Medical Executive Committee and participates as an active member of the Hospital Board of Governors. In collaboration with the CEO and other Senior Leadership, ensures the successful implementation of the Hospitals strategic plan. Operations / Regulatory Compliance In collaboration with the CEO and other Senior Leadership, ensures ongoing regulatory compliance (State, CMS, TJC) and active performance improvement activities. Develops and maintains staffing and on-call schedules for the Medical Staff. In collaboration with the CEO and other Senior Leadership, works to continuously identify performance improvement activities with an emphasis on ensuring patient safety and providing the highest quality of care. Actively participates in internal and external business development activities for the facility. Participates in Hospital Committees including Quality Council, Environment of Care Committee, Staff Effectiveness reviews, etc Clinical Oversees the quality of care delivered to his/her patients. Assesses clinical appropriateness for admission and collaborates with Assessment and Referral regarding potential admissions. Performs psychiatric assessments for individuals under his/her care. Completes documentation necessary to address patients hospitalized under civil commitment statutes. Provides individual therapy, family therapy and/or medication management as needed for patients under his/her care. Appropriately requests consultation when indicated. Provides psychiatric consultation when requested. Maintains patient confidentiality and complies with all HIPAA standards. Completes all documentation requirements legibly and within timeframes established by Medical Staff Bylaws and Rules and Regulations. Leads the multidisciplinary treatment team and participates collaboratively in scheduled staffing regarding the treatment of his/her patients. Demonstrates appropriate medication administration and ensures that documentation regarding medications complies with facility and regulatory standards. Complies with all Seclusion and Restraint requirements including responding to the facility within one hour when contacted for Seclusion and Restraint orders. Ensures that cases are adequately covered when away from the facility. Completes necessary documentation to ensure accurate reimbursement for services provided. Complies with all Medical Staff Bylaws and Medical Staff Rules and Regulations. Complies with all facility policies and procedures. Maintains professional behaviors at all times. Qualifications: Education: Graduate of an accredited medical school doctoral program required; completed residency in psychiatry, board certification. Experience: Prior experience in hospital based psychiatric practice or outpatient psychiatric practice preferred License: Current unencumbered medical doctor (MD) licensure in MA Additional Requirements: Successful credentialing with facility.
