Additional Details / Questions Answered by Facility:

  • Will the provider need to do histories and physicals? No
  • What is the number of discharges the site has per day? Approximately 2 a day.
  • What is the average time with each patient for consults? Approximately 40 minutes.
  • How many patients per day will the locum psychiatrist see? 6-11
  • How many patients would the Psych round on each day? 6-11
  • Do you have specific dates of coverage needed? Or will this be a full-time need for one provider? We need M-F covered until we find a replacement. Some variability (days off) are fine, we just want a psychiatrist up there rounding regularly.
  • How many other providers cover the unit with the psychiatrist? Typically the psychiatrist will be working with an APP. Specifically, one that does most of the M-F work. Though it may be another for times he takes off.
  • Are the admissions and discharges split amongst all the providers? Yes, though not necessarily 50/50. The FT APP will take more.
  • Will the locum handle consults from the emergency department? Since the APP is out, the locum will likely cover consults from the emergency department. However, typically the APP will handle this while he/she are working.
  • What is the average length of stay for a patient on the unit? 5-7 average length of stay. Some much shorter, rarely do some stay longer.
