NYC Health + Hospitals/Kings County, located in the heart of Brooklyn, accommodate more than 518,076 outpatient visits, more than 141,328 emergency room visits, and with 627 beds, more than 25,000 inpatient admissions annually. The hospital maintains a strong academic affiliation with SUNY Downstate Medical Center in order to maintain its high standards of healthcare delivery.

Kings County is located in the East Flatbush/Prospect-Lefferts section of Brooklyn, close to the 2 and 5 subways. Our patients are diverse, with the majority being afro-Caribbean. Most of our patients are native English speakers. Knowledge of French/Haitian Creole is helpful, but not required.

Responsibilities:

We are looking for a Attending Physician of CPEP, the provider will:

  • Clinical lead of the assigned team and is responsible for all aspects of patient care on the team, including safety and quality.
  • Kings On Track Program (KOT), including, but not limited to
    • Attends and participates in all OnTrack trainings and conference calls, maintains familiarity with content in manuals, and maintains fidelity with OnTrack protocols.
      o Provide direct care for patients in KOT, including appropriate and timely documentation
      o Adheres with OPD policies and procedures
      o Coordination of care between disciplines and functioning of interdisciplinary treatment teams.
      o Liaises with other departments like the CPEP, inpatient services, other community clinics and agencies, primary care and substance use clinics to ensure comprehensive and quality patient care.
      o Work with relevant outpatient mental health staff members to ensure compliance with corrective action plans.
      o Provides clinical consultation and supervision as needed to all relevant staff members.
      o Conducts and coordinates tier reviews as per policy
      o Responds in a clinically appropriate time frame to manage consumer crises and relapses
      o Is available to respond to consumers' emergencies outside of scheduled visit times
      o Cooperates with team to complete data reports on time and maintain OnTrack fidelity and metrics database
  • CPEP, including but not limited to:
    • Provide direct care for a specific number of patients in CPEP, including appropriate and timely documentation.
      o Complete admission assessment for all patients within 6hr of CPEP admission, and re-assess patients in a timely fashion. Document re-assessments in progress notes consistent with policy.
      o Participate in Behavioral Codes on the CPEP/EOB, providing leadership to the staff and patients.
      o Participate in Medical Codes on the CPEP/EOB until the Code Team arrives
      o Ensure appropriate use of de-escalation, including appropriately and timely use of restrictive interventions, as per policy, to ensure patient safety.
      o Work with all teams to monitor length of stay 24hrs for CPEP and 72 hrs for EOB.
      o Work with medical-consultation team ensure that medical problems are properly managed
      o Ensure that legal statuses are completed timely.
      o Participates and conduct tier reviews as per policy.
  • Performance Improvement, Quality Assurance and Risk Management:
    • Participate in Performance, Quality Assurance and Clinical pertinence activities
    • Maintains focus on key strategic priorities including patient experience, access to care, increased market share, and improving financial stability
    • Maintain awareness of the standards for certification by the various regulatory agencies

Qualifications:

  • Must be board certified in Adult Psychiatry and Child/Adolescent Psychiatry
  • M.D. or D.O. from an accredited school of medicine
  • Completed residency training in an accredited program within Psychiatry
  • License to practice medicine in the State of New York
  • Proof of Covid-19 vaccination is required prior to hire

Annual Base Salary Range: $236,900 (board eligible) - $247,200 (board certified)
