We are working on an opportunity for a Craniofacial Plastic Surgeon at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, MD. If you are interested in helping our active duty personnel please reply with your CV and minimum salary request. Job description and requirements are as follows:

Qualifications:
Degree/Education A graduate of a Diploma, Associate, Bachelor or Master’s program of Registered Nursing. The institution will be from a National League of Nursing (NLN) approved program.
• Certifications in addition to Basic Life Support (5.2.3): In addition to BLS Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
• Experience: A) Minimum of ten (10) year experience within preceding 13 years in the specialty. B) Possess experience in an academic teaching residents and medical students, both in classroom and operating room setting. C) Possess experience with process Improvement, Medical education planning, or Clinical, Patient Simulator environments a plus. D) Possess ability to oversee rotating surgery residents, interns, medical students and physician Assistant PAs in their training in the conduct of plastic surgical procedures and operations
• Board Certification (5.2.6.4.4): Must be Board Certified in Plastic Surgery by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and completed a specialized fellowship in Craniofacial Surgery.
• Licensure/Registration: a) Possess a current Drug Enforcement Agency registration for controlled substances b) Possess a valid unrestricted current license to practice as a Plastic Surgeon in any U.S. state or the District of Columbia at all times.

SPECIFIC DUTIES/TASKS THE CONTRACT EMPLOYEE SHALL PERFORM:
• Perform as MTF expert as a Craniofacial Plastic Surgeon.
• Serve as interim director of the Cleft Clinic, evaluating patients presenting with craniofacial anomalies with subsequent creation and delivery of treatment plan.
• Perform preoperative assessment of patient presenting for craniofacial reconstruction.
• Perform of invasive procedures and operations for correction of craniofacial deformities due to trauma and congenital or acquired anomalies.
• Maintain professional competency involving clinical skills and knowledge through participation in professional organizations, self-directed journal readings, and attendance at in-service and continuing education programs.
• Complete all forms and reports accurately and promptly when appropriate.
• Instruct and teach the NCR members as necessary. Facilitate complex cases involving invasive monitoring and vaso-active infusions. Provide patient education on therapy, medications, and procedures when necessary.
• Perform other duties and tasks as assigned from time to time.
• Participate in the clinic quality assurance, utilization review, risk management, and peer review activities. Attend medical staff meetings as required.
• The Craniofacial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgeon shall be capable of performing the full range of craniofacial plastic services, including clinical and surgical skills.
• Prepare and review case histories and obtain data through interviews of patients.
• Examine patients and determine required radiology examinations and clinical laboratory tests. Medical care shall be provided to all beneficiaries authorized care in AR 40-3.
• Interpret tests results and evaluate findings.
• Prescribe specific medication(s), diet, treatment modalities and oversee nursing personnel in providing appropriate care to the patient.
• Work under the general professional direction of the Chief, Plastic & Reconstructive Service.
• Be prepared to make recommendations regarding changes on policy or programs as they affect professional services in the specialized area of Craniofacial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.
• Make necessary rounds to inpatients, as needed.
• Provide consultation services for members of the MTF staff for purposes of specialty area training. As required, the contracted HCP will serve in a teaching capacity to staff members assigned to the MTF and ambulatory clinics.
• The Contracted HCP is responsible for maintaining accurate clinical records and receiving consultations and laboratory work of specific patients.
• Provide advice and opinions upon request by the Chief, Plastic & Reconstructive Service or the referring physician in support of patient care and treatment.
• The Contract HCP shall be responsible for providing medical care during the required work hours and shall provide immediate evaluation and management of emergent problems as they occur. Contractor shall complete medical charting within 72 hours of patient visit IAW JC guidelines.
• The Contract HCP shall assume additional administrative or clinical duties as requested or needed to ensure sustainment of normal clinic operations and ensure compliance with JC standards, to include, but not limited to, managing daily schedules, reviewing and disposition consults, monitoring appointment utilization and patient access to care, conducting mandatory clinical training, monitoring clinic supplies and equipment, ensuring enforcement of clinic SOPs and standards, conducting monthly peer review and attend
OTHER SPECIFIC DUTIES/TASKS THE CONTRACT EMPLOYEE SHALL PERFORM:
• Ensure compliance with standard of care and practice in accordance with all established policies, procedures, and guidelines used in the medical treatment MTF and IAW JC guidelines. Provides care within ethical and legal boundaries.
• Complete orientation and competency verification programs in accordance with unit guidelines.
• When assigned, will serve and participate in committees, functions and other meetings. Provide relevant and timely information, and assists with decision-making and process improvement.
• Will report to the Service Chief, Plastic & Reconstructive Service. The contractor shall take direction from Service Chief as required in maintaining a safe environment for staff and patient(s).
• When required, participate in the orientation, training, and evaluation of duty performance of newly assigned personnel, as appropriate.
• As required, participate in customer service initiatives and medical readiness activities, designed to enhance health services.
• Perform necessary administrative duties that include maintaining statistical records of clinical workload, participating in education programs, and participating in clinical staff quality assurance functions.
• Participate in meetings to review and evaluate the care provided to patients, identify opportunities to improve the care delivered, and recommend corrective action when problems exist.
• Participate in clinical staff quality assurance functions and clinic Performance Improvement/Risk Management Programs as prescribed by the Commander.
• Attend command orientation for contract provider staff. Orientations include initial training requirements (e.g. fire, safety, infection control, and family advocacy) and information systems orientation (including the Composite Health Care System (CHCS), Armed Forces health Longitudinal Technology Application (AHLTA), and the Ambulatory Data Module (ADM), S3 Surgical Scheduling System). The Government reserves the right to adjust orientation schedules to meet mission and workload requirements.
• Clinic orientation for the health care worker shall take place during regularly scheduled shifts immediately following the commencement of services.
• Annual renewal of command directed training requirements including but not limited to: customer relations, disaster preparedness training, sexual harassment, family advocacy, and infection control and blood borne pathogens.
• Possess and maintain current certifications as required in the base contract.
• Perform necessary administrative duties that include maintaining statistical records of the HCW's workload operate and manipulate automated systems such as the Composite Health Care System (CHCS) and the Armed Forces Health Longitudinal Technology Application (AHLTA), participating in clinical staff Performance Improvement (PI) and Risk Management (RM) functions as prescribed by the commander.
• Maintain patient medical records, logs, and unit records.
• Duties shall be performed in the setting of an outpatient clinic or inpatient setting, including the Neonatal ICU. Perform all clinical duties in a collaborative manner and manage patients in accordance with established guidelines and standards of care
• Provide appropriate guidance regarding preventive health measures, health maintenance, healthy lifestyle choices, and self-care skills through education and counseling.
• Review, sort, prioritize, and appoint all consults to according to established protocol within clinic as necessary to ensure patient access.
• Provide and document basic health education to patients and families.
• Provide medication instruction to patients. Describe medication side effects. Provide patient education and instruction on use of medical devices, and other durable medical equipment.
