Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Medical Director to provide leadership and full operational oversight of the medical department within a residential treatment program. This role is responsible for medical operations, medication management systems, regulatory compliance, and continuous quality improvement related to patient care.
The Medical Officer serves as the accountable owner of medication processes, medical policies, and procedures, ensuring safe, compliant, and consistent execution across all staff and shifts. This position collaborates closely with senior leadership, clinical teams, and operations to strengthen systems, reduce risk, and support high-quality patient outcomes.

Job Responsibilities
Medical Department Leadership & Ownership
Oversee day-to-day operations, performance, and regulatory compliance of the medical department
Lead all medication-related workflows, processes, and staff practices
Medication Management & Oversight
Supervise medication storage, security, access, and environmental standards
Ensure accurate medication reconciliation and documentation integrity
Oversee patient medication orientation and self-administration processes
Monitor and investigate medication discrepancies, variances, and errors
Lead incident reporting, documentation, and corrective actions
Train staff on medication handling, documentation, and procedures
Define roles, expectations, and accountability for medical and medication-related staff
Quality Improvement & QAPI
Lead quality assurance and performance improvement (QAPI) initiatives
Track and analyze key metrics such as error rates and audit findings
Conduct routine audits of medication administration records (MARs) and workflows
Identify gaps and implement corrective actions and process improvements
Ensure corrective plans are executed and sustained
Clinical Care & Oversight
Conduct or supervise medical assessments at admission and throughout treatment
Manage withdrawal protocols and medication-assisted treatment (MAT/MOUD)
Review patient medication regimens for safety and effectiveness
Provide education to patients and families on treatment and medications
Supervise clinical staff including physicians, nurses, and medical support personnel
Compliance & Documentation
Ensure compliance with all applicable healthcare regulations and standards
Maintain accurate and timely medical records in electronic systems
Report audit results and compliance concerns to leadership
Stay updated on best practices in treatment and medication management
Qualifications
Experience in medication management and withdrawal management
Knowledge of medication-assisted treatment (MAT/MOUD)
Strong background in quality improvement, auditing, and process optimization preferred
Skills
Patient assessment and diagnosis
Medication management and reconciliation
Withdrawal management and detox protocols
Knowledge of MAT/MOUD therapies
Understanding of co-occurring medical conditions
