Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Westover Hills, San Antonio will be a brand-new state of the art 50-bed inpatient rehabilitation hospital that will offer comprehensive inpatient rehabilitation services. Our hospital will provide a wide range of physical rehabilitation services, a vast network of highly skilled physicians and therapists, and the most innovative equipment and rehabilitation technology, ensuring that all patients have access to the highest quality care.

Are you seeking the next step in your physiatry career with an opportunity to grow into meaningful leadership? Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Westover Hills is seeking a full-time PM&R Medical Director to join our inpatient acute rehabilitation hospital.
This role offers the ideal blend of hands-on patient care, collaborative leadership, and schedule autonomy. Encompass Health physicians enjoy a self-directed daily workflow while delivering comprehensive, high-quality inpatient rehabilitation care.

Medical Director Role Overview
- Partnering with the Hospital CEO and leadership team to advance the hospital’s position as the inpatient rehabilitation hospital of choice in the service area
- Enhancing patient satisfaction scores to exceed Encompass Health averages and achieve consistent top-tier clinical rankings
- Developing strong referral relationships with specialists and acute care providers to educate them on the benefits and criteria for inpatient rehabilitation
- Serving as a visible, accessible, and approachable physician leader for staff, patients, and families
- Supporting physician engagement, clinical quality initiatives, and interdisciplinary collaboration
Practice Model
The PM&R physician will establish a private practice, including a caseload of medically complex inpatient rehabilitation patients. An outpatient rehabilitation practice may be developed if desired.
- Physician retains 100% of billing and collections
- Independent billing company relationship
- Encompass Health hospitals maintain high patient volumes
- Dedicated, experienced outreach teams identify appropriate inpatient rehabilitation candidates throughout the region

Qualifications
- MD or DO with active Texas medical license (or willingness to obtain)
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation
- Strong patient-centered commitment to clinical excellence
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Hospital-based physiatry experience preferred, but not required
- Interest in leadership and community engagement
