Job Description:
This locum tenens Physiatry role at Stroger Hospital offers a dynamic mix of inpatient and outpatient responsibilities within a high-acuity, Level 1 trauma center setting. The provider will manage a diverse patient population, including those with spinal injuries, brain trauma, amputations, and complex neurorehabilitation needs. In addition to consults and rounding, the role includes performing EMGs, ultrasound-guided injections, and contributing to administrative tasks. The schedule is primarily weekdays with occasional weekend call, and the provider will collaborate closely with two other physicians and a medical director. This is an excellent opportunity for a board-certified physiatrist with strong clinical experience and a passion for multidisciplinary care.
Job Responsibilities
• Perform and interpret EMGs (8 hours/week at Blue Island)
• Administer ultrasound-guided injections
• Provide inpatient care for amputees and poly-trauma patients
• Manage neurorehabilitation cases including brain and spinal injuries
• Staff outpatient clinic one day per week
• Participate in occasional weekend on-call coverage (72-hour response window)
• Allocate one day per week for administrative duties
Qualifications
• Board certification in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation
• DEA and BLS certifications
• Minimum of 1 year of clinical experience
• Experience working in a Level 1 trauma center (strongly preferred)
• Ability to perform EMGs and ultrasound-guided injections
• COVID-19 vaccination (exemptions allowed)
• Familiarity with Cerner EMR system (preferred)
