The Portland VA Healthcare System (VAPORHCS) is actively recruiting to fill Board Certified Staff Physiatrist (BE considered) to help care for our Veterans – American’s Heroes. Selected candidate will be considered for a faculty appointment at the Oregon Health Sciences University (OHSU) & be involved with education & teaching of PM&R residents in our residency program plus medical students, medicine residents & other providers. The VAPORHCS is located in Portland, Oregon and the “Flagship” for the Portland VA Health Care System (VAPORHCS), is a Joint Commission accredited, referral level 1a/high complexity, 277 bed facility serving more than 95,000 Veterans in Oregon, including the rapidly expanding metropolitan Portland/Vancouver, WA area. Job Responsibilities

The Physiatrist will be responsible for providing professional clinical services to Veterans in the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Service. This position is under the direct administrative supervision of the Section Chief within the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Service. We provide high quality Service for our Veterans by placing an emphasis on therapeutic excellence, and a multi-disciplinary approach to care. The incumbent will participate as assigned in patient care, teaching, and administrative activities of the Service. We seek a full-time board-certified/board Eligible Physiatrist preferably with interest in stroke or traumatic brain injury rehabilitation. This position would primarily support outpatient services for patients with acquired brain injury and may provide back-up coverage for inpatient services. Specialty interests such as spasticity, MSK care, or EMG can be supported. We are outfitted with state-of the-art equipment and space, EMG machines, ultrasound machines, full complement of staff and opportunity for training as well. The recruited Physiatrist will be part of the teaching faculty for our PM&R residency program. Physiatrist should be competent to perform injection techniques. The requirements for the incumbent will include teaching and preceptor responsibilities for the PM&R residency program (in affiliation with Oregon Health Sciences University) and participation in residency and hospital

Working Hours

Work Schedule: Full-time, Monday-Friday, (Will be required to work evenings or weekends as a 24/7 Full-Time Physician).
•Must be U.S. Citizen
•Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in the U.S.
•Board Certification/Eligible in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation.
