Opportunity Overview:

U.S. Physiatry is seeking a board-certified Physiatrist for a high-impact Medical Director locum tenens assignment at Baylor Scott & White – Lakeway, one of the top rehabilitation hospitals in the country. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a highly regarded inpatient rehab setting in the heart of Austin, TX.

Compensation Package:

  • 💰 $2,000 per 8-hour day (rounding)

  • 💵 $325 per hour for overtime

  • 📞 $500 pager fee per night for on-call coverage

  • 💵 $325 per hour if called in while on call

Job Responsibilities

Serve as Medical Director for the inpatient rehabilitation unit, ensuring quality outcomes and regulatory compliance

Conduct daily rounding on patients and collaborate with therapy, nursing, and case management teams

Provide leadership and clinical oversight for a 20-bed rehab unit

Manage rehab-specific call coverage (pager-only; internal medicine handles medical issues)

Document evaluations, progress notes, and discharge summaries in Pinpoint EMR

Support a culture of excellence and teamwork within the rehab program

Attend interdisciplinary team meetings and contribute to care planning

Qualifications

Board Certified or Board Eligible in PM&R

Active TX license preferred – IMLC accepted; we will reimburse licensing fees upon completion of 20 shifts
Inpatient rehab experience strongly preferred

Working Hours

Standard coverage is 8-hour daytime shifts, typically between 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM

Monday through Sunday availability as scheduled

Pager call coverage may be assigned on weeknights and weekends

No in-house call required; additional pay provided if called in while on pager call

Skills

Experience leading or rounding in an inpatient rehab setting

Comfortable managing a 20-bed census in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team

Strong understanding of CMS documentation and regulatory compliance

Excellent communication skills with both staff and patients

Confident decision-making in Medical Director responsibilities

Proficiency with electronic medical records, especially Pinpoint or similar platforms

Ability to manage weekend or evening rehab-related pager call professionally

Board Certification (or eligibility) in PM&R required

Active TX license preferred (IMLC eligible physicians welcome to apply)
