Job description

An established inpatient rehab unit, located within an acute care hospital and connected to a respected university health system, is seeking a new Medical Director. The current director is preparing for retirement, and the team is looking for a strong physiatrist to step in and help shape the next chapter.

This hospital sits in a vibrant, welcoming town just outside of Indianapolis. It’s the kind of place where you’ll find great restaurants, shopping, and excellent sports activities and recreation centers —without the hassle of big-city living. Many physicians here find little need to head into the city; the amenities, community, and lifestyle make it easy to stay local.

Position Highlights:

  • Acute inpatient rehab within a large hospital system
  • 1:4 call schedule (call structure being re-evaluated to improve coverage)
  • Advanced Practice Provider support
  • Medicine call handled by the hospitalist team
  • Physiatrist responsible for admissions, discharges, and rounding
  • Opportunity to develop an outpatient program if desired.
  • Ability to collaborate with neurosurgeons—EMGs and pain management welcome
  • Academic environment with 65 residents and a full medical school.

This is an excellent fit for a physiatrist with leadership experience or aspirations, especially one interested in working in a teaching hospital and building out programs in a supportive environment.
