PHYSICAL MEDICINE AND REHABILITATION MEDICAL DIRECTOR NEEDED

The Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Physician Medical Director develops, implements, and evaluates the medical practice delivery model to our Health's mission and vision. The Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Physician assures the delivery of quality services to all patients. This is an exempt position.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Training: Must possess an M.D. or D.O. degree from an accredited medical school. Must hold current state medical license. Education/Training Successful completion of an ACGME or AOA accredited Residency training program in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Certification Current certification or active participation in the examination process leading to certification in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation or the American Osteopathic Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, is preferred.

Experience: Prior experience as Medical Director/leadership preferred. Current practice in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Verbal ability to express ideas and views effectively when speaking to groups, hospital managers, and personnel.
  • Cognitive ability to gather and analyze data and prepare and evaluate reports, programs, and other data against judgmental and verifiable criteria.
  • Numerical ability to evaluate statistical data and make various computations to plan departmental operations and budget.

Responsibilities :

  • Provide professional medical services on a full-time basis to patients of assigned hospital(s). Such services shall include those customarily performed by physicians practicing in the specialty of physical and rehabilitation medicine, including, but not limited to, rounding and consultations with patients.
  • Collaborate with the Facility’s leadership, staff, and other practitioners and consultants to help develop, implement, and evaluate patient care policies and procedures that reflect current standards of practice.
  • Help the Facility identify, evaluate, and address/resolve medical and clinical concerns and issues that affect patient care, medical care, or quality of life or are related to the provision of services by physicians and other licensed health care practitioners.
  • Performing prompt, courteous, and competent professional services by generally accepted professional standards.
  • The physician will report to the Regional Chief Medical Officer for clinical matters and to the Hospital Chief Executive Officer or his or her designee for administrative matters.
  • Performance of administrative services may be reasonably required.
  • Responsible for preparation and maintenance of complete and accurate medical and other records by generally accepted medical practice and in compliance with mandated regulatory, legal and/or accrediting standards, including but not limited to Pre-Admission Screenings (PAS), Individualized Plan of Care (IPOC), Leading the interdisciplinary team conference, Progress Notes which include face-to-face visits, Admission Orders, Inpatient Rehabilitation Facility Patient Assessment Instrument (IRF-PAI) and other records, reports, claims, and correspondence relating to the services and treatment rendered by Physician for or on behalf of Employer.
  • Evaluation, diagnosis, consultation, and management of patients with physical and/or cognitive impairment and disability. Includes the diagnosis and treatment of patients with painful or functionally limiting conditions, the management of co-morbidities and co-impairments, diagnostic and therapeutic injection procedures, electro-diagnostic medicine, and emphasis on preventing complications of disability from secondary conditions. Assess, stabilize, and determine the disposition of patients with emergent conditions consistent with Medical Staff Policy regarding Emergency and Consultative call services. Privileges also include the physical examination of pain, weakness, and numbness (neuromuscular and musculoskeletal) using a diagnostic plan or prescription for treatment that may include the use of physical agents or other interventions and evaluation, and prescription, and supervision of medical and comprehensive rehabilitation goals and treatment plans. Admit to inpatient or other level of care for treatment. Perform the general history and physical examination. Perform pre-admission assessment. Perform the day 4 Plan of Care. Review and approve of pre-admission screening Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Procedure.
  • Maintain competency in his specialty field to meet the ordinarily acceptable standard established by the staff or other licensing or certifying bodies.
  • Identify hazards to health and safety by reviewing incident and accident reports concerning patients and co-workers.

Staff Education Management: Assist with medical education as requested. This may include curriculum development, supervision, performance evaluations, daily rounds, lectures, demonstrations, informal discussions, and continuing education to attending Medical Staff, the nursing staff, and the therapy staff.
