PEDIATRIC opportunity -Shenandoah Valley, VA
Seeking a partner for a busy, well-respected Pediatric practice in VA. The practice has a long history of serving the diverse community of and the surrounding counties in Virginia and West Virginia. The practice has a very low turnover rate, both in physicians and office staff. We are seeking a full-time pediatrician to replace a partner who is relocating for family reasons. We currently have 8 physicians and 1 nurse-practitioner. One of our partners is fellowship-trained and five were chief residents. Previous work experience would be valued. Spanish proficiency is desirable due to the diverse community. Schedule is full-time with days off in weeks prior to and after weekend call. Call is currently shared equally, 1 in 8. Call includes an evening clinic and coverage of inpatients.
Our Medical Center is the main hospital of a regional health system. It has outstanding pediatric nurses for the inpatient floor and a robust Mother/Baby Unit, with roughly 2500 deliveries a year. We cover our own patients in the nursery, but a Level 3 NICU with two neonatologists and six NNPs (one in-house 24/7) means no delivery room coverage and a rapid response for nursery consultations. Every day starts with individual partners seeing their own newborns in the hospital, followed by inpatient rounds as a group on the group’s admitted patients. This facilitates continuity of care, the full extension of the ‘medical home’, and a rich collegiality of practice within the group: ideal for a recently trained pediatrician. With no local subspecialists in residence, partners nurture collaborative relationships with subspecialists throughout the region to work together to care for a variety of medically complex children.
