Tenet Healthcare along with University Pediatricians is actively seeking a BE/BC Child Abuse Pediatrician to join the well-established Department of Pediatrics and Child Protection Team at DMC Children’s Hospital of Michigan in Detroit.

Responsibilities

The Child Abuse Pediatrician will be responsible for providing in-depth written consultations and communicates with sub-specialists on cases suspicious for child maltreatment. Develops protocols, trains hospital physicians and other community professionals on how to identify and/or report suspected cases of child abuse, particularly more subtle signs of abuse. Interprets medical information for the legal system and courts when needed. Demonstrates leadership for hospital in meeting needs of children and families affected by child maltreatment with the hospital and community. Participates in service line expansion and market growth initiatives. Achieve and maintain specialty hospital designation.

Academic responsibilities include training medical students, residents, and fellows in research of the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of child maltreatment.

Qualifications

Candidates must be BE/BC and eligible to obtain licensure in the State of Michigan. An interest in academics is strongly preferred as this position supports the academic mission of medical education and training programs of Detroit Medical Center and Children’s Hospital of Michigan.
