Role Overview

This is a call-only Pediatrician position, offering a unique opportunity to focus on critical care and newborn services without routine clinic duties. You'll support inpatient pediatrics, emergency consults, and newborn care.

Coverage Details

• Primary coverage: Thursdays 5:00 PM – 8:00 AM 🌙
• 1 in 4 weekends starting Thursday 5:00 PM through Monday 8:00 AM
• ⏱ 30-minute callback requirement

What You'll Be Doing

• Provide newborn nursery care 👶
• Assist in high-risk deliveries & neonatal resuscitation 🚑
• Manage newborn conditions (jaundice, feeding issues, hypoglycemia)
• Stabilize patients for NICU transfers
• Offer pediatric consults in the Emergency Department
• Support inpatient pediatric care (<18 years)
• Respond to pager calls from patients & staff 📟
• Participate in pediatric codes when required

Call Insights

• Average overnight calls: 0–5 per shift ☎️
• Admissions: ~1–2 annually per provider
• Facility handles 200+ deliveries annually

Pager Call Expectations

• Postpartum & breastfeeding questions 🤱
• Pediatric symptoms: fever, vomiting, diarrhea, rash

Qualifications

• MD (Physician) required
• Board Certified Pediatrician 🎓
• Active Vermont Medical License required
• Comfortable handling neonatal and pediatric emergencies
