We are seeking a Board-Certified Pediatrician for a locum tenens call-only opportunity in Randolph, Vermont. This role focuses on newborn care, inpatient pediatrics, and emergency consult support, with no outpatient clinic responsibilities.
🔹 Provide care in newborn nursery and inpatient pediatrics (<18 years)
🔹 Attend high-risk deliveries & perform neonatal resuscitation when required
🔹 Manage common newborn conditions (jaundice, feeding issues, hypoglycemia)
🔹 Stabilize patients for NICU transfers
🔹 Offer pediatric consults in the Emergency Department
🔹 Participate in pediatric codes and emergency response
🔹 Handle pager calls related to postpartum and pediatric concerns
Schedule & Work Details
📅 Coverage: June 19, 2026 – October 19, 2026
🕔 Primary Call: Thursdays 5:00 PM – 8:00 AM
📞 1 in 4 weekend call (Thu 5 PM – Mon 8 AM)
🏥 Call-only position (no clinic duties)
⏱️ 30-minute callback requirement
📊 Call Volume:
• 0–5 calls per overnight shift
• ~1–2 admissions annually per provider
• Facility handles 200+ deliveries annually
Job Responsibilities
🔹 Provide newborn care in the nursery, including routine assessments and management
🔹 Attend high-risk deliveries and perform neonatal resuscitation when required
🔹 Manage common neonatal conditions such as jaundice, feeding issues, and hypoglycemia
🔹 Stabilize and coordinate NICU transfers when necessary
🔹 Deliver inpatient pediatric care for patients under 18 years
🔹 Provide pediatric consults in the Emergency Department
🔹 Participate in pediatric codes and emergency situations
🔹 Respond promptly to pager calls (within 30 minutes) from staff and patients
🔹 Address postpartum and breastfeeding-related concerns
🔹 Manage common pediatric symptoms such as fever, vomiting, diarrhea, and rash
🔹 Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality patient care
Qualifications
🔹 MD (Doctor of Medicine) required
🔹 Board Certified in Pediatrics
🔹 Active Vermont Medical License (required)
🔹 Experience in newborn care and inpatient pediatrics
🔹 Proficiency in neonatal resuscitation and management of high-risk deliveries
🔹 Strong clinical judgment in pediatric emergency and inpatient settings
🔹 Excellent communication and teamwork skills
