Overview
Chinle Comprehensive Health Care Facility, part of the Indian Health Service (IHS) Navajo Area, is seeking two experienced Pediatricians to provide inpatient and outpatient care to the Navajo Nation community. This is a meaningful opportunity to support an underserved population while working alongside a dedicated, multidisciplinary clinical team.
Compensation
- Hourly Clinical Rate: Negotiable
- Weeknight On-Call (Mon–Fri, 5:00 pm–8:00 am): Negotiable
- Weekend On-Call (24 hours): Negotiable
Schedule
Clinical Hours:
- Monday – Friday
- 8:00 am – 5:00 pm
On-Call Coverage:
- Weeknights: 5:00 pm – 8:00 am
- Weekends: 24-hour shifts
- Must be reachable and able to report to the hospital within 2 hours during standby periods.
Responsibilities
The Locum Pediatrician will:
- Provide comprehensive pediatric medical care for infants, children, and adolescents
- Diagnose and treat acute and chronic pediatric conditions
- Perform evaluations, develop treatment plans, and provide follow-up care
- Support both inpatient and outpatient pediatric services
- Respond to after-hours calls during assigned on-call shifts
- Collaborate closely with nurses, APPs, and other hospital staff
- Document all encounters in the electronic health record
- Support the mission of IHS to improve the health of American Indian and Alaska Native communities
Qualifications
- MD or DO from an accredited institution
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Pediatrics
- Active, unrestricted U.S. medical license
- Ability to obtain/maintain IHS clinical privileges
- Current professional certifications as required by the facility
- Experience in rural, tribal, or underserved communities preferred
