We are looking for a Pediatrician to help us at Urgent Care for Children in Huntsville. At a minimum, we need one Pediatrician (or two) to pick up 2 shifts per month (at either clinic)- as well as supervise Nurse Practitioners remotely (make extra money from home).

Headquartered in Birmingham, Alabama, Urgent Care for Children has been serving patients from birth through age 21 since 2017. With eight UCA-accredited clinics, we are committed to delivering evidence-based pediatric care and ensuring seamless follow-up with primary care providers.

We are seeking a PRN Pediatrician to join our compassionate teams at our Huntsville and/or Madison clinics. This role is ideal for motivated clinicians who thrive in fast-paced settings, love working with kids, and want to make a meaningful impact in pediatric care, with both Full-Time, Part Time, and PRN opportunities available.

As a Pediatrician at Urgent Care for Children you will focus on:

  • Acute Pediatric Care: Deliver timely evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment for non-emergent pediatric illnesses and injuries.
  • Clinical Decision Making: Apply sound clinical judgment to determine appropriate interventions, diagnostic testing, and follow-up care plans.
  • Family Centered Communication: Clearly and compassionately educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatment options, and next steps.
  • Documentation: Ensure accurate, thorough, and timely documentation of patient encounters in compliance with clinical guidelines and regulatory standards.
  • Collaboration: Serve as a collaborating physician for Advanced Practice Clinicians, providing oversight, guidance, and support in accordance with state regulations and organizational standards.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

  • Education & Certification: MD or DO from an accredited medical school; active Alabama medical license; Board-Certified in Pediatrics or Family Medicine; current CPR and PALS certifications.
  • Experience & Skills: Minimum 2 years in pediatrics or urgent care preferred. Strong clinical judgment, ability to provide evidence-based care, and comfort managing a wide range of acute pediatric cases. Proficiency with EMR systems and common software tools.
  • Communication & Teamwork: Excellent communication skills with the ability to educate families and work effectively within a team.
  • Full-Time Schedule & Hours: clinicians work 14 shifts per month. Clinic hours are Monday–Friday 12:00–8:00 p.m. and Saturday–Sunday 8:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m., with some flexibility and occasional coverage at other clinics. (Hours subject to operational needs.)
  • PRN Schedule & Hours: Monday–Friday 12:00–8:00 p.m. and Saturday–Sunday 8:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m. (PRN shifts are scheduled within these hours as needed). Work a minimum of two shifts per month, supervising Nurse Practitioners remotely.
  • Clinic Environment: Clinics feature on-site x-ray, rapid testing (flu, RSV, etc.), and lab services. Locations are in vibrant and family-friendly communities.

WHAT WE OFFER:

  • Competitive Pay: Premium hourly rate that reflects the unique demands and flexibility of after-hours urgent care.
  • Comprehensive Benefits: Excellent medical, dental and vision.
  • Professional Support: Malpractice coverage, CME and license renewal allowances, and an UpToDate subscription.
